JC Collections © is proud to announce their fourth
Commission Contest for performers. Many performers would like to have a commissioned work in their
repertoire that has been written especially for them. Not only does the premiere add to the prestige of the performer,
but presenting a new piece of music can attract press, reviews and recordings. In addition, for a performer, there is nothing like having a piece
of music tailor made for their distinctive character and sound. Finally, having a work dedicated to you can be more than a brief honor,
it can remind musicians and audiences of your contribution forever. Unfortunately, the fear of the high cost of a commissioning fee leads to program after program with no new works presented. Performers become museum curators rather than part of a living tradition which fosters the growth rather than decline of the world of classical music. Help keep classical music alive by entering the JC Collections © Commission Contest for performers. The winner of the contest will be awarded a substantial subsidy towards the commissioning of a new work by composer John Carbon for his or her instrument or voice, and the exclusive right to premiere the new work. The composer will work with the performer to create a new piece perfect for the player and the venue. ![]() Contest DetailsEligibility: No restrictions.Instrumentation: Solo instrument or voice with piano, or piano solo.
